It has been revealed that the artificial intelligence (AI) care robot 'Haetmi' introduced by Ulju-gun, Ulsan is providing practical help in improving the health management and medication habits of the elderly in the region.
Mr. Mind, the operator of Haetmi, recently announced that many seniors are highly satisfied with the service, based on feedback gathered during a recent operational management and case study training session for its caregivers. The caregivers, who are responsible for on-site care, explained that seniors who previously had to take multiple medications due to cognitive impairment have seen positive changes in chronic disease management since the introduction of the robot, as they now take their medications on schedule.
Ulju County distributed the robot to provide emotional support and dementia prevention to elderly people living alone. Haetmi's "medication reminder" function, which prompts patients to take their medication at set times, has been found to be helpful in managing their health.
As a result of the project, improvements were also observed in the health indicators of the participating seniors. Hypertension management indicators improved by approximately 30.9%, and blood sugar control indicators improved by approximately 10.7%. Furthermore, overall lifestyle changes were observed, with physical activity improving by 65.6% and dietary habits improving by 43.9%.
In addition, Haetmi's emotional conversation function helps alleviate the emotional isolation of seniors living alone. It also complements the 24-hour care support system by providing a feature that allows users to request assistance in emergency situations. With a 97.5% satisfaction rating, Haetmi is recognized as a prime example of a local welfare service leveraging digital technology.
A Mister Mind official said, “The medication guidance function was developed based on research results showing that simple voice guidance alone increases medication adherence,” and added, “Haetmi’s medication reminder service is helping improve the irregular medication habits of the elderly, and we plan to expand care services utilizing AI technology in the future.”
Meanwhile, as the aging population progresses rapidly, the market for elderly care services based on AI care robots and digital healthcare is also expanding, centered around local governments and related companies.
