Venture capital firm SBVA collaborated with OpenAI to conduct an AI technology workshop for its portfolio companies.
SBVA announced that it held and concluded the 'SBVA x OpenAI Workshop' with OpenAI on the 6th. The workshop was held at SBVA headquarters and was divided into strategy and technical sessions.
The event was attended by CEOs, CTOs, and other key executives from 22 portfolio companies, including Carrot, Law & Company, Telefix, Nota, Modusign, and Teamblind. Participants discussed the latest trends in OpenAI technology, potential applications for corporate services, and potential future collaborations.
The technical session featured OpenAI's solution architects and Go-To-Market (GTM) leadership, presenting AI application cases and practical approaches. Presentations highlighted the latest product updates and demonstrated the potential of multimodal AI technologies, including document processing and image and video generation.
Additionally, technical approaches that can be referenced in the actual service development process, such as efficient prompt design methods, factors to consider when building system architecture, and strategies for applying multi-agent-based workflows, were shared.
Notably, this technical session was conducted in the form of a mini-hackathon, allowing participating companies to directly apply OpenAI technology to their own services. Participants received real-time feedback and had the opportunity to examine the technical challenges facing their companies, such as processing various data formats and creating content.
In the strategy session, Thomas Jeong, OpenAI's Head of Startup and VC Partnerships for the Asia Pacific region, presented AI adoption strategies and global collaboration examples. The event also discussed AI use cases in product development and collaborative models for securing competitiveness in the global market.
SBVA explained that this program was not simply a networking event, but rather a support program designed to strengthen the technological capabilities of its portfolio companies. The company plans to continue to collaborate with global technology companies to expand opportunities for technological exchange and joint projects.
An SBVA official stated, “We wanted to support our portfolio companies to quickly access the latest AI technology infrastructure and strategic insights by collaborating with global IT companies,” and “We plan to continue to support our portfolio companies’ technological competitiveness and global business expansion through collaborative programs and PoC linkages with major technology companies.”
Meanwhile, in the venture capital industry, there is a growing trend of companies operating collaborative programs with global big tech companies to strengthen the technological competitiveness of their portfolio companies, driven by the proliferation of generative AI.
