Krafton Co., Ltd. (CEO Chang-Han Kim) announced that it has obtained global integrated ISO/IEC 27001 and ISO/IEC 27701 international certifications from the British Standards Institution (BSI).
This certification covers all business areas, including game development and publishing, and areas utilizing AI technology such as Co-Playable Characters (CPCs). The certification scope extends beyond the Korean headquarters to major overseas offices in the US, Europe, India, and Japan.
ISO/IEC 27001 is an international standard that evaluates the establishment and operation of a management system for information asset protection, while ISO/IEC 27701 verifies a management system that protects the entire personal information processing process. Both certifications are used as core criteria for compliance with global privacy regulations, such as the European Union's GDPR.
With this certification, Krafton has officially demonstrated its world-class information protection and personal information management capabilities. Not only has the company established regulatory compliance systems for each country, but it has also secured practical implications by encompassing actual game service operations and user data processing environments. By applying the same management system to development and operational environments utilizing AI technology, Krafton has demonstrated its ability to maintain a consistent security system even in a changing technological landscape.
Hong Seok-beom, Krafton CISO, said, “This certification is an objective verification of Krafton’s information protection and personal information management capabilities as a global service company,” and added, “We will continue to prioritize user trust and continuously strengthen our security system to meet global standards.”
Meanwhile, in the gaming industry, acquiring information protection and personal information management certifications is emerging as a key competitive advantage in line with the expansion of AI-based content and global services.
