Semiconductor equipment manufacturing company IST announced on the 6th that it has signed a contract to supply automation equipment to SK Siltron.
IST provides FOUP cleaners, FOUP inspection, and automation equipment to global IDM customers such as Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix, and also maintains business relationships with overseas wafer manufacturers such as SK Siltron and France's Soitec.
The equipment ordered this time is a sorter-series compiler that supports automated wafer operation in semiconductor production lines. Equipped with two robots and two aligners, this high-efficiency device is unique in that it can integrate the processes previously performed by two general-purpose sorters into a single compiler.
The equipment is designed as a 300mm compiler capable of accommodating 4 to 10 load ports, supporting more complex and diverse process automation. IST has proven its technological prowess by developing and supplying custom-made equipment for SK Siltron in 2022.
A company official explained, “SK Siltron is a major customer that utilizes various equipment such as automation equipment, FOUP cleaners, and FOUP inspection equipment,” and “Although equipment supply continued during the wafer investment cycle that lasted approximately three years after 2022, a sales gap occurred in 2025 due to some investment gaps.”
He continued, “This initial order was secured as the semiconductor industry has recently recovered and our customers have resumed investments in expansion and process improvement,” adding, “Starting with this order, we expect the supply of various semiconductor equipment, including automation equipment, to gradually expand.”
