PSTEC (002230, CEO Jaeyong Hwang), a company specializing in weighing and measuring instruments, announced on the 9th that it recently received the 'OCPP 1.6 CSMS Full' certification from the Open Charge Alliance (OCA). This certification officially verifies that PSTEC's electric vehicle charger operating system meets the key functions of OCPP 1.6, an international standard communication protocol.
The Open Charge Point Protocol (OCPP) is an open standard for communication between electric vehicle chargers and central control systems, currently used in over 70 countries worldwide. The protocol is considered a key technology for ensuring interoperability between charging infrastructure. In Korea, with the Ministry of Environment mandating OCPP 1.6 certification starting in 2023, compliance with the standard is becoming a crucial factor in charging infrastructure construction projects.
PSTech has been providing remote metering systems and electric vehicle charger operation solutions to various clients, including private construction companies and the Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH). This certification confirms that the core functions of the operating system, including charger control, charging session management, equipment status monitoring, and error response, meet international standard requirements.
The company believes this will enable its customers to build a more stable and integrated charging infrastructure operating environment. In particular, it anticipates that ensuring compatibility and stability between chargers and operating systems will enable integration with a variety of charging equipment.
As domestic electric vehicle charging infrastructure expands, primarily among public institutions and private operators, the importance of communication standards between chargers and operating platforms is also increasing. There is a growing demand for standards-based infrastructure that considers long-term maintenance and system compatibility in apartment complexes, commercial facilities, and public institutions. Amid this trend, this certification is expected to positively impact PS Tech's competitiveness in its electric vehicle charging infrastructure business.
A PSTech official said that this certification is an official confirmation that the company's charger operation system meets international standards, and that the company will contribute to the expansion of electric vehicle adoption by establishing stable electric vehicle charging infrastructure in future public and private construction projects.
In the electric vehicle charging infrastructure market, international certification and technological competition to secure standards-based interoperability between charger manufacturers and operating platforms is intensifying.
