Google Completes Acquisition of Cloud and AI Security Platform Company Wiz

Google announced on the 11th (local time) that it has finalized its acquisition of Wiz, a cloud and AI security platform company. Following this acquisition, Wiz will be incorporated into Google Cloud, but will retain its existing brand and continue to provide security services to protect customers across all cloud environments.

Google Cloud aims to use this acquisition to strengthen its cloud security capabilities and enable enterprises to quickly and securely build systems across any cloud or AI platform. This strategic decision is aimed at countering sophisticated cyberattacks targeting the accelerating adoption of AI and the widespread adoption of multi-cloud operations.

Wiz has been providing a platform for preventing and responding to cybersecurity incidents, leveraging its expertise in cloud environments and code. Google plans to combine Wiz's capabilities with its cloud infrastructure and AI-based threat intelligence tools to build an integrated security platform. This will enable companies to rapidly detect new threats based on AI models, and provide an environment where security professionals can leverage AI to more effectively track threats.

In keeping with Google Cloud's open philosophy, Wiz's solutions are available not only on Google Cloud, but also across major cloud environments, including Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, and Oracle. The two companies expect this integrated platform to accelerate the adoption of multi-cloud security, reduce security design and operational costs, and accelerate corporate innovation.
