Taesung, a company specializing in glass substrates and composite copper foil equipment, announced on the 12th that it is participating in InterBattery 2026, a battery industry exhibition held at COEX in Seoul, and is showcasing next-generation secondary battery material production equipment and related technologies.
InterBattery, hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, is Korea's leading battery industry exhibition. This year's event saw the participation of 667 domestic and international companies spanning the entire battery industry, including battery cell companies, materials, components, and equipment providers. Furthermore, government agencies, research institutes, and companies from 14 countries, including the US, Germany, China, and Japan, participated, operating as a forum for global technology exchange and cooperation.
At this exhibition, Taesung is showcasing various battery material production solutions, focusing on composite copper foil production equipment and roll-to-roll process technology, which are attracting attention as next-generation battery materials. Composite copper foil is considered a key material for next-generation secondary batteries, offering the advantage of reducing weight while increasing energy density compared to conventional metal current collectors.
In particular, composite copper foil is attracting increasing interest from related industries as it is a material with expanding potential for use in next-generation battery industries such as electric vehicles and energy storage systems (ESS).
Taesung's composite copper foil production equipment and process technology attracted attention from battery industry insiders from the outset of the exhibition, leading to numerous consultations and on-site attention. Chinese equipment company Dongsheng Intelligent Equipment Co., Ltd. (DST) also participated in this exhibition.
DST is a company with diverse production equipment technologies in the lithium battery separator, composite current collector, and electronic thin film industries. It supplies separator stretching line equipment, composite current collector winding coating equipment, and magnetron sputtering-based thin film coating equipment.
Through this exhibition, the two companies plan to introduce a composite copper foil production process solution that combines Taesung's roll-to-roll-based production equipment technology and DST's thin-film sputtering equipment technology, and explore opportunities for cooperation with global battery companies.
A Taesung official explained that InterBattery is a representative exhibition where global battery industry players participate, and that through this exhibition, they plan to promote next-generation battery material production technology and expand the possibility of cooperation with overseas customers.
With the recent growth of the electric vehicle and energy storage device markets, competition in equipment technology related to composite copper foil and next-generation current collector materials is also expanding in the global battery industry.
