SelectStar (CEO Kim Se-yeop), an AI data and reliability evaluation company, has joined the global collaboration 'Open Telco AI' launched by the GSMA (Global System for Mobile Communications Association) as an official data and AI evaluation partner.
Open Telco AI is a collaborative network of global telecommunications companies, technology companies, and academia to safely and accurately develop AI technologies specialized for the telecommunications industry. The telecommunications industry, which handles sensitive data, has long been criticized for limiting the application of existing general-purpose Large Language Models (LLMs). In response, over 40 global companies and organizations, including AT&T, AMD, and Google Cloud, led by the GSMA, have joined to create an AI ecosystem optimized for the telecommunications sector. SK Telecom and LG Uplus are participating domestically, while SelectStar is the only startup to join.
SelectStar is responsible for verifying the reliability and security of the overall AI system within the partnership. In particular, it supports the operation of the "Open Telco Benchmark," which was unveiled alongside the launch of "Open Telco AI" at MWC 2026. This benchmark is built on seven evaluation criteria designed with the telecommunications industry environment in mind, and SelectStar plans to utilize it to provide reliability assessments and red-teaming services to advance telecommunications companies' AI models.
At MWC 2026, the company also introduced its generative AI reliability assessment platform, the "Datumo Platform," to the global market. This platform, an evaluation system capable of comprehensively assessing the safety and performance of AI models, attracted the attention of global big tech companies, major telecommunications companies, and financial institutions during the event. Representatives from major telecommunications companies such as Japan's SoftBank, France's Orange, and Germany's Deutsche Telekom reportedly expressed interest in the platform and its red team capabilities and discussed potential future collaborations.
Additionally, SelectStar co-hosted the "Global AI Red Team Challenge" with the GSMA for the second consecutive year during MWC 2026. The event garnered significant attention, attracting over 130 attendees. The red teaming results derived by participants were evaluated as a reference for improving the stability of LLM models utilized by global telecommunications companies.
Kim Se-yeop, CEO of Selectstar, said, “Participating as an official partner of ‘Open Telco AI’ is the result of our AI reliability verification technology being recognized in the global market,” and “As we confirmed various demands for the Datumo platform at the MWC site, we will strengthen cooperation with the GSMA and contribute to the development of AI safety standards and evaluation systems.”
Meanwhile, the telecommunications industry is seeing an expansion of global collaboration and technology verification projects aimed at AI-based network operation automation and service quality improvement.
