Aegic Land (CEO Jongmin Lee) announced on the 12th that it recorded consolidated sales of 72.8 billion won in 2025. Operating loss for the same period was 27.6 billion won.
The company attributed this performance improvement to increased technology investment to address the global semiconductor market. Specifically, the company explained that increased costs stemmed from increased R&D and overseas investments to secure advanced process design capabilities and internalize AI semiconductor design technology.
Specifically, the impact was attributed to several factors, including adjustments to major clients' development schedules and the deferral of revenue recognition to the following year, increased overseas investment by the Taiwanese subsidiary to expand its advanced process capabilities, and increased R&D spending due to the pursuit of new R&D projects. The company stated that these expenditures were strategic investments aimed at securing long-term technological competitiveness.
Aegic Land sees a high potential for performance improvement starting in 2026. This is because, amidst growing demand for customized AI semiconductors in the global market, the reflection of sales carried over from 2025, increased mass production sales, and the expansion of the global customer base are expected to positively impact performance.
Some actual investment results are already showing. The company signed a mass production contract for storage controllers worth approximately 25.4 billion won in January of this year, laying the foundation for a full-scale shift in its sales structure. As ongoing development projects move into production, related costs are expected to decrease and profitability to improve.
Furthermore, contracts with global clients are continuing into 2026. In February, the company signed a new development agreement with the neuromorphic AI semiconductor company BrainChip, and this month, it signed an additional agreement with a Malaysian company. Through these efforts, the company is securing customer references in the North American and Asian markets and expanding its global business base.
An Aegic Land representative explained, "2025 was a year of simultaneous adjustments to key project schedules and increased R&D investment. During this process, we secured AI semiconductor design technology and prepared for the transition to mass production." They added, "In 2026, we expect to see improved performance, driven by increased mass production sales and new global project orders."
In the semiconductor industry, recent analysis suggests that the role of ASIC design companies is expanding further as demand for customized AI semiconductors and design services rapidly increases along with the spread of generative AI.
