AI and cloud company Megazone Cloud announced on the 16th that it is partnering with Kookmin University to foster talent in the field of quantum computing.
On March 13, the two institutions signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for cooperation in the field of quantum computing at Kookmin University, attended by officials including Kim Dong-ho, Chief Quantum Officer (CQO) of Megazone Cloud, and Kim Nam-gyu, Dean of the Graduate School of Business IT at Kookmin University. Under the agreement, both parties plan to pursue various cooperative projects, including the joint planning of regular and extracurricular educational courses related to quantum computing, the operation of industry-academia linked lectures, personnel exchanges, and joint research.
Unlike existing engineering-focused quantum education, this collaboration introduces quantum computing as a regular course within the business administration curriculum, aiming to cultivate 'Quantum Native' talent capable of utilizing quantum technology in corporate decision-making processes.
The curriculum is planned to consist of analyzing key optimization problems in business management—such as logistics route optimization, financial portfolio analysis, risk management, supply chain operational strategies, and personalized marketing targeting—based on quantum algorithms.
In addition, to enhance the professionalism of the curriculum, Megazone Cloud's quantum computing research organization, the 'Quantum Innovation Lab,' is participating in the curriculum design, and there are plans to jointly develop educational materials that explain quantum mechanics concepts in a way that is easy for business administration majors to understand. The practical training environment is provided using Amazon Braket, a cloud-based quantum computing service from Amazon Web Services. This allows for hands-on practice where participants can access a real quantum computer and execute code without owning separate quantum hardware.
Kim Dong-ho, CQO of Megazone Cloud, stated, “Quantum computing is a next-generation technological capability that can enhance the speed and accuracy of corporate decision-making when combined with AI and cloud technologies,” adding, “This collaboration will serve as a starting point for fostering convergent talent capable of analyzing real-world problems from a quantum technology perspective and verifying them through practical exercises.”
Jeong Seung-ryeol, President of Kookmin University, stated, “This new attempt to integrate quantum computing into management education will serve as an opportunity to foster talent capable of leading the future industrial environment,” adding, “We will actively reflect issues from the industrial field in education and research to cultivate talent that can lead both technological and business innovation.”
Recently, research and educational collaborations are expanding in the industrial sector to combine quantum computing with AI and cloud technologies to solve optimization problems in various fields such as logistics, finance, and manufacturing.
