Dexter Studios Completes Production of Immersive Exhibition Content for Baekje Culture Center

Dexter Studios (hereinafter Dexter) confirmed its capabilities in implementing immersive exhibitions by undertaking the production of digital content and the design of exhibition experiences at the newly opened Baekje Culture Center in Gongju, South Chungcheong Province.

The Baekje Culture Center is a complex cultural platform established to expand Gongju into a city of historical and cultural content, based on World Heritage sites such as Gongsanseong Fortress and the Tomb of King Muryeong. Composed of the exhibition space 'Bidantteul,' the performance hall 'Goma Hall,' the experiential education space 'Mureung Workshop,' and an art shop, it is designed to provide immersive experiences that go beyond simple viewing.

Dexter formed a consortium with the Technology Research Institute of Cultural Heritage (TRIC) and Fridats to plan and produce five core contents for the permanent exhibition "Time Connected by Light, Baekje" at "Bidantteul." The exhibition is designed to allow visitors to directly experience the history and artistry of Baekje culture.

The flagship content, 'Baekje Hyperreal,' is a large-scale immersive video utilizing a curved screen measuring 18m wide and 3.2m high, which reconstructs the flow of Baekje culture—including the Geum River, textile culture, and science and technology—into a single cinematic 3D content. Textures and forms were precisely rendered based on high-resolution artifact data from the National Museum of Korea and the National Gongju Museum.

"The Source of the Senses," installed on the LED media wall at the entrance, audiovisually portrays the historical flow of Baekje culture that developed around the Geum River, while experiential content such as "Colored by the Senses" provides interactive presentations that detect visitors' movements and project images of artifacts onto fabric in real time. AI-based production technology and a motion tracking system were applied.

Through this exhibition, Dexter comprehensively showcased its immersive exhibition design and technological capabilities by combining various media such as large LEDs, projection mapping, and shear screens. The experience gained from operating immersive content based on Silla myths and legends at the previous Gyeongju 'Flashback: Gyerim' exhibition was also applied to this project.

Lee Hyun-min, Head of Dexter’s Immersive Content Division, said, “The exhibition at the Baekje Culture Center has enhanced visitor-participatory experiences by combining various digital media,” adding, “We have produced high-quality content by comprehensively utilizing the technological capabilities accumulated in fields such as film, drama, XR, and media art.”
