Ministry of SMEs and Startups, Recruiting Participating Companies for the '2025 Digital-Based Automation MRV Solution Distribution Project'

The Ministry of SMEs and Startups (Minister Oh Young-joo, hereinafter referred to as the Ministry of SMEs and Startups) announced that it will recruit companies to participate in the 2025 digital-based automated MRV solution distribution project from Thursday, June 19 to Thursday, July 24.

MRV stands for Measurement, Reporting, and Verification of Carbon Emissions, and is a core competency that small and medium-sized enterprises must possess in order to respond to international carbon regulations such as the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), product carbon footprint, and life cycle greenhouse gas emissions assessment.

The 'Distribution of Digital-based Automation MRV Solutions' project is a project being implemented for the first time this year to enable small and medium-sized enterprises with limited dedicated organizations and professional manpower to respond to carbon regulations requiring a high level of expertise on their own in preparation for the CBAM scheduled to be fully implemented in 2026.

Through this project, ▲SW that calculates carbon emissions based on energy usage such as electricity, ▲HW such as energy usage measuring devices and data communication equipment for each process and facility, ▲verification by a specialized institution to ensure the reliability of the calculated emission values are comprehensively provided.

Small and medium-sized enterprises that directly or indirectly export CBAM target items to the EU can apply by forming a consortium with small and medium-sized enterprises that provide automated MRV solutions. Detailed information on the 2025 'Digital-based automated MRV distribution' project recruitment notice can be found on the Ministry of SMEs and Startups website and the ESG integrated platform .

Meanwhile, on the 18th, the government held the 2nd joint government briefing session on EU CBAM response in 2025 at the KBIZ Hall of the Korea Federation of SMEs, introducing the CBAM response manual for SMEs and the digital-based automated MRV solution distribution project to SME practitioners attending the briefing session.
