Airability announced on the 18th that its own 60kg class electric tilt-pan jet vertical take-off and landing drone 'AB-U60' won the grand prize in the design concept category of the '2025 Red Dot Design Award'.
The Red Dot Design Award is considered one of the world's top three design awards, along with Germany's iF Design Award and the United States' IDEA Design Award, and is known as a prestigious international competition that evaluates design innovation and perfection.
In the field of future air mobility, global companies such as Germany's Lilium Jet and the UK's Vertical Aerospace (VA-X4) have won awards, and this award is the first time a domestic company has won the main award in this field.
The 'AB-U60' is an unmanned aerial vehicle that uses fixed-wing-based vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) technology and a distributed electric fanjet propulsion system. It is evaluated to have achieved high stability, flight efficiency, and high speed, and to be able to secure an aerial mission radius that is up to 20 times wider than existing drones. Its potential for use in the industrial and public sectors has also been suggested.
Airability sees this award as international recognition of its technological prowess and design competitiveness, and plans to use it as a stepping stone to increase global brand awareness and expand the market in the future.
