KGA, listed on KOSDAQ.. “Expanding solid-state battery and humanoid power solutions”

KG A, a company developing next-generation secondary battery process equipment and humanoid expansion power solutions, announced that it will be newly listed on the KOSDAQ market on June 17. The listing ceremony held at the Korea Exchange in Yeouido, Seoul on that day was attended by CEO Kim Ok-tae, executives, and officials from Samsung Securities, the lead underwriter.

Founded in 2017, KGA is a company that specializes in developing and producing next-generation secondary battery manufacturing equipment, including lithium iron phosphate (LFP) and nickel cobalt manganese (NCM)-based lithium-ion battery equipment, as well as all-solid-state batteries. The company explained that it has secured a number of global customers, including major domestic battery manufacturers, and has the largest customer base among domestic equipment companies.

In 2023, KGA achieved its best performance since its establishment, recording sales of approximately KRW 51.4 billion, operating profit of KRW 3.4 billion, and net profit of KRW 2.8 billion on a consolidated basis. With this listing, it aims to exceed KRW 100 billion in annual orders, and is currently building a new plant in Pyeongtaek to expand its business. The new plant is scheduled to be completed in the second half of this year, and when it starts operation, its production capacity is expected to increase by about four times compared to the previous one.

KGAE is strengthening its future business with solid-state battery equipment and power solutions for humanoids as its two axes. Recently, it has supplied solid-state battery electrode process equipment to major customers, and additional orders are expected as these customers transition to mass production. It is also conducting research and development on next-generation energy equipment such as sodium battery equipment.

For the humanoid business, we are developing the expanded power solutions 'FIB' and 'FIS' through collaboration with Mobilobotics. The solution aims to increase the operating time of humanoid robots by more than two times compared to the existing ones, and the related demand is expected to increase as the introduction of humanoids expands.

In addition, KGAE is expanding its business areas to new fields such as high-performance new material 'aerogel' equipment that can be used in the aerospace and defense industries, waste battery restoration equipment, and cathode flake materials. In particular, the aerogel equipment is equipment that has both high-heat blocking and heat dissipation performance, and it has a supply track record to global companies, it said.

A KGA official said, “The company is focusing on expanding the market based on its technology-based competitiveness in key industrial fields such as solid-state batteries and humanoids,” adding, “Through the listing, we plan to strengthen our production capacity and delivery response capabilities, and strive to increase corporate value and shareholder value through continuous technological innovation.”
