The Gyeong-In Education Center of the Korea Health and Welfare Human Resources Development Institute announced that it received an award from the President of the Korea Occupational Health Association at the 'Blood Donor Day (June 14)' commemorative event held at the Hanmaeum Blood Center on the 13th in recognition of its contribution to spreading the blood donation culture centered around social service workers.
June 14th is 'World Blood Donor Day', and Korea has designated it as a legal commemorative day starting in 2022 to raise awareness of the importance of blood donation and express gratitude to blood donors. On this day, Hanmaeum Blood Center held a commemorative event to select and award individuals and organizations that have contributed to the national blood donation program.
Since signing a business agreement with Hanmaeum Blood Center in 2023, Gyeong-In Education Center has been actively promoting the necessity and importance of blood donation to social service workers by operating regular blood donation events. As a result, approximately 100 social service workers have voluntarily participated in blood donation every year.
In a situation where the number of blood donors is decreasing due to low birth rates and aging, the efforts of the Gyeong-In Education Center to encourage the participation of young social workers are evaluated as contributing to the spread of blood donation culture and stabilization of blood supply. In addition, the center acts as a bridge between social workers and the Korea Occupational Health Association and Hanmaeum Blood Center, which are in charge of the national blood service, and is also leading the way in promoting blood donation events through media reports.
Gyeong-In Education Center Director Lee Su-kyung said, “With this award as an opportunity, we will more faithfully fulfill our social responsibility as a public institution and continue to lead the way in creating a healthy blood sharing culture.”
