Mapsi Co., Ltd. announced on June 5 that it signed a three-party business agreement (MOU) with Korean Register (KR) and Jimarine Service for digital transformation and data-based innovation in the shipping industry.
This agreement is significant in that it is a strategic digital transformation model in which the Korean Register of Shipping, an international maritime technology certification organization, Jimarine Service, a shipping company with actual ship operation experience, and Mapsi, a big data-based maritime IT solution company, collaborate, and is the starting point of structural cooperation to transform accumulated data within the shipping industry into actual operational assets.
Korean Register of Shipping is an internationally recognized marine technology certification organization trusted by major shipping companies around the world, and has continuously emphasized the need for systematic utilization of marine data. Jimarine Service is a subsidiary of Hyundai Glovis, and is a comprehensive marine service company with diverse ship operations and ship management experience.
Through this agreement, Mapsi will provide an AI-based operational platform that integrates and analyzes real-time vessel locations, routes, weather, currents, class, fuel consumption, and carbon emissions based on approximately 9 million vessels and over 100 million pieces of marine big data worldwide. The three organizations plan to work together to build best practices for practical maritime digital transformation.
Mapsi has been recognized for its technological prowess in the international shipping market through collaboration with global partners such as CIRM, CMA CGM, and zebox, and through this agreement, it plans to strengthen strategic cooperation with major domestic organizations and further solidify its position as a global marine big data company.
Mapsi Co-CEO Hong-rae Cho said, “This three-party agreement is a structural attempt to transform accumulated data in the shipping industry into industrial assets through efficiency, sustainability, digital transformation, and AI-based system construction.” He added, “Based on our technology-centered global marine data leadership, Mapsi will continue to expand digital marine innovation that actually works in the field.”
