BigMove Ventures announced on the 13th that it has completed its investment in small aircraft operation startup Seom Air . This investment will be used as funds necessary for Seom Air to introduce aircraft and prepare for service at Ulleung Airport and inland airports.
Seom Air is a startup that is preparing an air transport service connecting domestic islands and inland areas based on small aircraft. With the recent revision of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport’s aviation-related laws, the efficiency of passenger transport by small aircraft has improved, and with the development of new regional airports such as Ulleung Airport, Heuksando, and Baengnyeongdo, opportunities to enter the market are expanding.
Jung Hoon-jae, CEO of Big Move Ventures, said, “Seom Air is a team with the expertise and execution power necessary to operate an airline. We decided to invest in them after highly evaluating the CEO’s financial background, aviation qualifications, and maintenance and operation personnel’s experience.”
BigMove Ventures is expanding its investment portfolio to various fields including artificial intelligence (AI), bio-healthcare, and ESG-based technology companies, including this investment in Seom Air. Major investment cases include Impact AI, the operator of the advertising budget optimization solution 'ADoasis'; Connective, an AI-based surgical robot development company; Cham Yak Sa, a pharmacy DX transformation platform; and Innoclas, a whole-genome analysis company.
“The expansion of aviation infrastructure in island regions and changes in aviation laws will be new challenges and opportunities for new airlines,” said Choi Yong-deok, CEO of Seom Air. “We will use this investment as an opportunity to implement a safe and efficient regional aviation service model.”
