Baekgyeong Distillery and Gongsa Brewing, which are Sejong City Rural Convergence Industry Certified Businesses, have been selected for the 2025 Rural Convergence Industry Acceleration Program hosted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs. This selection is a case where two companies in the Sejong area were included among 22 companies nationwide.
This program is for rural convergence industry startups that have been in business for less than 7 years, and provides comprehensive support for specialized consulting for each stage of growth, including market verification, sales channel development, and commercialization strategies, as well as commercialization funds, professional mentoring, investment attraction, and networking. In particular, direct investment and TIPS program linkage will also be provided depending on performance.
Gongsa-sa Yangjo is a traditional liquor startup based in Jochiwon-eup, and emphasizes regionality by reflecting Sejong’s area code ‘044’ in its brand. Its flagship product ‘Sak’ is a fermented distilled liquor that combines the tradition of jocheong with the innovation of distillation technology, giving a fresh impression to consumers. ‘Sak’ is a pure Korean word meaning crescent moon, and it also adds differentiation to the brand philosophy.
Both companies are startups that have received Sejong City Rural Convergence Industry certification, and this selection is evaluated as a case that proves the growth potential and market competitiveness of local startups that combine tradition and innovation. These companies are companies that have been certified as rural convergence (6th) industries through the Sejong Rural Convergence Industry Support Center operated by the Sejong Creative Economy Innovation Center, and are also companies that have been discovered and linked through the center.
Sejong Creative Economy Innovation Center CEO Oh Deuk-chang said, “We have been communicating with Sejong area rural convergence industry certified companies on-site, so I am very pleased and feel it is meaningful that the two companies have been included in the national acceleration,” and “The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs’ acceleration is a highly effective model that combines policies and private resources, and it is a great driving force for startups.” He added, “We will continue to provide various follow-up links and basic support so that Sejong’s rural convergence companies can grow on the national stage.”
