Bonjak (CEO Bae Hyeong-jin), which operates the French heritage-based fragrance brand Selvatico, announced on the 5th that it has signed a business agreement with global recycling innovation company TerraCycle (CEO Tom Jockey) and will be running the empty bottle recycling campaign 'Selvage' for 11 months starting on June 24th.

Selvatico, which means ‘nature as it is’ in Italian, is a ritual beauty brand that presents niche perfumes and hand washes inspired by French nature. This campaign was planned based on the nature-friendly values that Selvatico pursues so that customers can easily participate in protecting the environment in their daily lives.

According to this agreement, the two companies will jointly run the Selvage Campaign from the 24th of this month to May 25th of next year. When customers return empty bottles of Selvatico products to a designated offline store, the empty bottles will be taken to TerraCycle’s Material Recovery Facility (MRF) and recycled through a recycling process.

The empty bottle recycling campaign can be participated in at ▲Hyundai Department Store Pangyo Branch ▲Hyundai Department Store Jungdong Branch ▲Connected Hyundai Cheongju Branch, and will also be held at the new pop-up store. Customers who return empty bottles will be provided with discount coupons for Selvatico products and online-only coupons. In addition, Selvatico will continue to inform the public about the empty bottle recycling process through its official Instagram and newsletter. More information about the campaign can be found on the Selvatico official website.

TerraCycle is a global sustainability solutions company with a vision to “eliminate the concept of waste.” Since establishing its Korean branch in 2017, it has been leading the way in spreading a culture of resource circulation by collaborating with more than 28 major domestic companies and public institutions, including SSG.com and Shinsegae International.

Bae Hyeong-jin, CEO of the company, said, “We expect that this campaign will create great synergy between Selvatico’s brand philosophy of caring for the environment and Terracycle’s expertise,” adding, “We will continue to build a virtuous cycle structure connecting products, the environment, and customers through various eco-friendly activities, and also strengthen the emotional bond with customers.”

Meanwhile, Selvatico is continuing its efforts to reduce unnecessary packaging, such as using ‘Earth Pact’, unbleached paper made from 100% sugarcane bagasse pulp, for all shopping bags and gift boxes and introducing eco pouches as a packaging option.
