Guru Company X Funple Stream Sign Business Agreement for 'Conquering the Japanese Content Market'

Guru Company , which operates the B2B content API platform 'Treasure Island', announced on the 5th that it signed a strategic business agreement (MOU) with Funple Stream , a global IP publishing company headquartered in Tokyo, Japan, to conquer the Japanese content market.

Guru Company's 'Treasure Island' is a platform that supports companies to build various content services such as webtoons, web novels, and short dramas within their apps or services with simple API linking. It is attracting attention from companies that aim to increase user revisit rates and retention times through the introduction of content services, as it can implement more than 10,000 content, viewers, and payment functions with just a small amount of code work without separate large-scale development.

Through this agreement, Funple Stream will be responsible for discovering customers, sourcing content, and providing customer support (CS) for 'Treasure Island' in Japan. Based on its experience in successfully introducing a number of game IPs to the Japanese market, Funple Stream has distribution strategies and operational capabilities suited to the local market.

Guru Company expects to efficiently resolve sales network securing issues that may arise during the process of entering the Japanese market by utilizing Funplestream’s local network and market understanding. Through this collaboration, the two companies plan to focus on the early settlement of ‘Treasure Island’ in the Japanese market and the creation of visible results.

“Many companies in Japan are experiencing issues with low actual user activity despite high traffic,” said Kim Hyun, CEO of Funplestream. “As demand for content that can maximize user engagement is increasing, ‘Treasure Island’ is an easy-to-use content service that can be applied simply by linking with APIs, so various brand apps, including telecommunications companies and point operators, are considering introducing it.”

Guru Company CEO Wonhyuk Choi said, “Japan has a rapidly growing webtoon market and has successful examples of content services within platforms such as NTT Docomo, making it the optimal market for ‘Treasure Island’ to quickly establish itself.” He added, “Based on this collaboration with Funplestream, we will expand our cooperative relationships with various companies in Japan and widely publicize the excellence of K-content.”
