Emro announced on June 5 that it signed an official contract with Doosan Energy to ‘build a next-generation purchasing environment’ and began full-scale system construction.
The core of this project is to integrate purchasing work that was previously distributed across ERP and electronic contract systems into a single platform based on Emro’s integrated SCM solution, ‘SMARTsuite v10.0’. In addition, the main goal is to maximize the efficiency and productivity of purchasing work by incorporating AI and data technology.
Doosan Energy is a company that places a high importance on strategic purchasing management due to the nature of the EPC industry, which deals with high-cost customized materials and equipment required for power plant and plant construction. This is because a significant portion of the total project budget is invested in purchasing, and material delivery and quality are directly related to profitability.
Emro plans to implement an integrated system for the entire purchasing process, from calculating the material budget to quotation, ordering, contracting, receiving, and evaluating partners, in this project. This will allow for real-time integrated management of scattered purchasing data and intuitive confirmation of project progress status through a dashboard.
In particular, the next-generation system will be designed to apply AI-based technology to a structure that will also lay the foundation for future automation and intelligence of purchasing work. Emro is promoting system design specialized for Doosan Energy based on its experience optimizing purchasing processes accumulated from numerous EPC projects. The project is scheduled to be completed in the second half of 2026 through processes such as system analysis and design, development, and testing.
An Emro official said, “In the EPC industry, beyond simple cost reduction, the purchasing strategy itself is a key factor that affects the success or failure of a project,” and added, “We expect to be able to once again prove Emro’s technological prowess and purchasing capabilities through collaboration with Doosan Energy.”
