K-Ground Ventures (CEO Namhoon Cho), a VC specializing in deep tech commercialization and the operator of ScaleupTips, announced on the 30th that it will invite the operator of ScaleupTips to Incheon Techno Park to host an IR Day for startups seeking to expand overseas and proceed with investments to create global performance through due diligence of selected companies.
“In order to help excellent startups fostered by Incheon Technopark advance into overseas markets, Scaleup Tips operating company judges have come together for the first time to host IR Day,” said Namhoon Cho, Vice President of Scaleup Tips Association and CEO of K-Ground Ventures, who served as the IR event judge. “For startups seeking to advance into the global market, R&D capabilities are important, but strategies to resolve painpoints from the customer’s perspective and market-centered commercialization strategies are also important,” he emphasized.
It is reported that this IR event received favorable reviews from the judges on IR Day by conducting a diagnostic and advisory program (management, global IP acquisition, investment attraction, etc.) for scale-up prior to the evaluation. K-Ground Ventures plans to invest in many companies other than the top company through due diligence and consultation among the participating companies.
On the morning of the 28th, K-Ground Ventures invited promising companies selected from among the investment companies for scale-up tips to the World Class Enterprise Association (Chairman Lee Jun-hyeok) corporate exchange event, creating opportunities for IR and open innovation.
CEO Namhoon Cho said, “In this era of rapidly changing circumstances and AI revolution, mid-sized companies with global scale-up experience and in need of growth engines and collaborative technologies are more open to collaboration with startups because they can make quick judgments and decisions.” He emphasized, “Startups need to scale up globally and quickly create a new industry ecosystem in each deep tech field through collaboration models with mid-sized companies as well as large corporations to create results.”
Meanwhile, K-Ground Ventures is operating the Hongneung Advanced Science and Technology Commercialization Fund and the Innovation IP Fund, and is a venture capital that creates specialized results in deep-tech commercialization based on CEO Namhoon Cho's experience working in Silicon Valley and the global achievements he created while serving as the first president of Korea Science and Technology Holdings (KST) as the operator of the first Scale-up Tips, as well as his network of government-funded research institutes.
K-Ground is utilizing the differentiated value-up strategy of creating new value through open innovation with mid-sized companies and cooperation between investment companies, especially for the scale-up of investment companies. To execute this strategy, mid-sized companies in various fields are already participating as LPs (fund investors) in K-Ground Ventures to discover new businesses and secure investment and cooperation opportunities, and global expert advisory groups in various fields are supporting convergence technology cooperation between individual startups and investment companies and creating global results.
As a particularly important case, at the 2023 Investment Company Family Day, K-Ground Ventures proposed the Mobility Healthcare Alliance, a convergence business model that encompasses deep tech investment companies and small and medium-sized special zones across the country, and actively promoted the development of innovative technologies that can create a global gap.
At that time, the oxygen supply system company NFC, which participated in the Mobility Healthcare Alliance, and the SDV (Software Defined Vehicle) company Yellowknife, which was originally from Hyundai Motor Company, are conducting joint development cooperation with global mobility companies through collaboration, and this is becoming an innovative success story that has established a global new industry ecosystem through collaboration between investment companies of K-Ground Ventures, a venture capital specializing in deep tech commercialization.
Meanwhile, K-Ground Ventures plans to establish a global fund worth over USD 25 million by the end of 2025 with KRS Ventures in the US, and as the operator of ScaleupTips, it will continuously foster star companies that will become global unicorns through linkage with ScaleupTips Global Track and Global Star Fund.
