HyperVisual AI (CEO Samyoon Jung), a startup developing an on-device vision intelligence solution that can apply AI technology within the device without the cloud, announced on the 30th that it has attracted an innovation IP fund investment from K-Ground Ventures , a VC leading in the commercialization of deep tech in Korea and the first operator of Scale-up Tips.
HyperVisual AI is a semiconductor-based AI startup founded in 2023 that is developing a general-purpose neural processing unit (GPNPU), an artificial intelligence processor that can be operated on-device, and dedicated AI models and frameworks. In particular, the GPNPU architecture, which processes various AI operations with low power through a hybrid structure that combines the general-purpose computing on graphic processing unit (GPGPU) of the GPU and the neural processing unit (NPU) into a single core, is evaluated as a solution optimized for the on-device environment. In addition, it was recently selected as one of the '1,000+ Ultra-Gap Startups' by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, and is receiving great attention from the fabless industry, VCs, and investors.
Hypervisual AI CEO Samyoon Jeong said, “We are delighted that K-Ground Innovation IP Fund, which specializes in deep-tech IP investment, has highly evaluated the value of our patents and has attracted investment.” He added, “In the on-device AI industry where convergence and integration technologies are the core of competitiveness, Hypervisual AI is also conducting joint development projects with companies in demand based on our research team’s outstanding R&D capabilities and Korea’s deep-tech infrastructure. Together with our network of customers and investors, we will grow into a global company providing total solutions for hybrid vision intelligence.”
Namhoon Cho, CEO of K-Ground Ventures, a leading expert in the field of deep tech technology commercialization who decided to invest, said, “Hypervisual AI’s GPNPU hybrid architecture technology has been highly regarded as an innovative IP and technology that will lead the future on-device market, and we decided to invest through mentoring and supplementation of the business aspect.”
He continued, “On-device target markets such as mobile, home appliances, mobility, and robotics are business fields that Korea can excel in, and in particular, we have judged that Korean companies with competitive convergence technologies can lead the global market in the future.” He emphasized, “We need to build a new ecosystem that will lead the global on-device AI market through bold government policy support for the on-device AI field, which is expected to be a next-generation new growth engine.”
Meanwhile, K-Ground Ventures announced that it will use this investment as an opportunity to build an on-device semiconductor alliance with investment companies in cooperation with the Fabless Industry Association and others, and to actively discover innovative companies, invest in them, and foster an ecosystem.
According to a Deloitte report, the on-device AI market is expected to grow rapidly, growing 27.95% annually to reach $16.7 billion in 2031.
