Climate tech startup Consciousness (CEO Tae-i Yoon) announced on the 29th that it was finally selected for the startup-centered university support project hosted by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups.
'Entrepreneurship-centered universities' are government-supported projects that seek to create a base for regional innovation growth by discovering startups with excellent technological prowess and business models and systematically supporting their commercialization and growth.
With this selection, Consciousness Foundation will receive a total of 100 million won in commercialization funds over 8 months, and will participate in stage-by-stage programs such as competitions, global expansion, investment attraction, and large company open innovation through cooperation with the Entrepreneurship Centered University based at Hanyang University in Seongdong-gu.
In particular, the ESG regional ecosystem infrastructure construction plan, which collects used bedding from hotels in Seongdong-gu and produces recycled fabrics and environmental education kits, was highly evaluated and selected as the target of this support.
Through its own brand, MEANINGLAB, consciousness is developing and distributing 'recycled felt' fabric upcycled from discarded bedding from five-star hotels, and DIY environmental education kits using it. The kits are being used to improve environmental awareness and provide ESG education in the local community in cooperation with public-private cooperative organizations such as Seongdong-gu Office and Glad Hotel.
CEO Yoon Tae-i said, “Through collaboration with Hanyang University, we will advance sustainable material technology and develop and commercialize new products with functionality and practicality, thereby creating a representative example of a public-private cooperation ESG model.”
Meanwhile, consciousness has received eco-friendly material technology (patent number 10-1589472) from the Korea Minting and Security Printing Corporation, and holds a total of 4 patents and 3 design registrations based on recycling hotel bedding. Currently, it is leading the way in realizing social value by operating the sustainable material brand 'Mining Lab' and the sustainable lifestyle brand 'aml'.
