Changjinwon holds 'Startup Global Outbound Policy Seminar'

The Korea Institute for Startups and Entrepreneurship Development (President Yoo Jong-pil) announced that it will hold the 'Startup Global Outbound (Overseas Expansion) Policy Seminar' as a joint sponsorship organization with the Korea SMEs and Startups Agency and Korea Venture Investment Corporation on the 28th at 2 PM at The Forum, 3rd floor of Two IFC Hall in Yeouido, Seoul.

This seminar was designed to diagnose the major difficulties faced by startups in the process of advancing overseas and to lay the foundation for effective policy support strategies and strengthening institutional foundations in a changing external environment.

Hosted by the Korea Venture Startup Association and co-hosted by the Korea Venture Capital Association, Korea Angel Investment Association, Creative Economy Innovation Center Council, Korea Startup Forum, and PEN Ventures Korea, this event is expected to be attended by approximately 200 people including startups, investors, officials from related organizations, and experts.

The main contents will cover ▲Difficulties faced by domestic startups due to strengthened protectionism ▲Overseas expansion policy support strategies in response to changes in the external environment ▲Investment management plans and recovery strategies for overseas expansion of startups ▲Overseas expansion support plans for startups.

Professor Yang Jun-seok of Catholic University, who will be giving the opening speech, will discuss the topic of ‘Startup challenges and support strategies due to the spread of protectionism’ and plans to respond to global expansion through analysis of damage cases and regulatory status by country and industry.

Next, Professor Kim Jun-ik of Konkuk University will present on the topic of ‘Support for Startup Global Expansion’, discussing ways for startups to advance overseas through step-by-step support measures such as market research, legal and certification consulting, partner matching, and regulatory reorganization.

The policy discussion that follows will be moderated by Chairman Kang Young-jae of the Creative Economy Innovation Center Council, and the panelists will include Professor Yang Jun-seok of Catholic University, Professor Kim Jun-ik of Konkuk University, Director Lee Chang-hyung of the Korea Institute for Startups and Entrepreneurship Development, and Director Lee Chang-min of Korea Venture Investment Corporation. They will discuss policy alternatives and effective support measures in depth.

Yoo Jong-pil, the president of the Korea Institute for Startups and Entrepreneurship Development, said, “In order for startups to successfully enter overseas markets, it is important to solve institutional problems,” and added, “I hope this seminar will serve as a cornerstone for establishing executable strategies and strengthening the institutional foundation to activate overseas expansion of startups.”
