Roplat, selected by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups for the '2025 Baby Unicorn Breeding Project'

Location technology and data specialist company Loplat (CEO Koo Ja-hyung) announced on the 27th that it was finally selected for the '2025 Baby Unicorn Development Project' hosted by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups.

The Ministry of SMEs and Startups' 'Global Unicorn Project' is a program that discovers promising startups with a high potential to grow into unicorn companies with a corporate value of over 100 billion won and fosters them into competitive companies in the global market through step-by-step support.

Loplat has the technology to implement high-precision location recognition in indoor and outdoor environments by inserting its own SDK into affiliated mobile apps and analyzing the user’s Wi-Fi signal patterns. Through this, it can go beyond simple location collection and precisely determine whether the user has visited the store, and it has independently built information on over 600,000 offline POIs (Point of Interest) nationwide to analyze the actual movement paths and visit patterns of real users.

This technology complements the limitations of existing GPS-based location recognition and is being used for precise marketing analysis services such as targeted advertising, campaign performance measurement, and regional population analysis based on offline behavioral data.

It has been reported that the selection of this Baby Unicorn was due to the high evaluation of the precision and commercialization potential of Roplat's location technology, including ▲high-precision visitor recognition technology based on Wi-Fi signal patterns, ▲POI information construction and utilization capabilities on a nationwide basis, and ▲AI-based offline behavioral context analysis technology.

Koo Ja-hyung, CEO of Roplat, said, “This selection as a baby unicorn is an official recognition of Roplat’s location recognition technology, POI data infrastructure, and behavior analysis capabilities.” He added, “In the future, we will grow into a core infrastructure company that provides the basic technology and data so that various AI services that require understanding of the actual physical environment can utilize precise location context through convergence with AI technology.”

Recently, Loplat is pushing forward with technology expansion through linkage with AI services based on large language models (LLM). It is focusing on implementing customized services optimized for the user’s location, situation, and intention by integrating contextual information based on actual visited locations into AI. This technology is expected to become a key foundation for increasing the effectiveness and field applicability of various AI services such as chatbots and customer response.
