Living Research Institute (CEO Yeon Hyeon-ju), which operates the home cleaning platform ‘Cleaning Research Institute’, announced on the 26th that it held a ‘Policy Discussion for AI Housekeeping Platform and Solutions to Low Birth Rate and Aging Society’ with representatives and experts from the Democratic Party of Korea and the housekeeping service industry at its Pangyo headquarters today.
This meeting was arranged to discuss in depth the social value and policy linkage plans of platform-based home care services with the Economic Growth Committee directly under the Democratic Party of Korea's presidential candidate.
The main participants included ▲ Rep. Ahn Do-geol, Senior Vice Chairman of the Economic Growth Committee, ▲ Financial Innovation Subcommittee Chairman Moon Cheol-woo, ▲ Financial Innovation Subcommittee Vice Chairman Lim Chang-gyu, etc., six key policy officials from the Economic Growth Committee directly under the Democratic Party candidate. From the private sector, ▲ Professor Kim Kyung-sun of Korea University of Engineering (former Vice Minister of Gender Equality and Family), ▲ Director Yeon Hyeon-ju of Living Research Institute (Cleaning Research Institute), ▲ Director Jeong Ji-ye of Mampyeonhansesang (Mom Sitter), etc., as well as representatives of the AI housekeeping industry, and about 20 people attended to hear various voices from housekeeping service workers and service users.
In order to solve the national issues of low birth rate and aging population, Rep. Ando-geol focused on ways in which AI-based platforms can contribute to resolving the gap in domestic care, listened to vivid suggestions from the field on new policies related to life-oriented services, and sought future development directions together.
Professor Moon Cheol-woo of Sungkyunkwan University, who is the chairman of the Financial Innovation Division, explained that a national investment activation policy is needed for innovative business models that reflect AI technology in offline housekeeping services.
In addition, Yeon Hyeon-ju, CEO of Living Research Institute, and Jeong Ji-ye, CEO of Mampyeonhansesang, shared the process of integrating AI technology to enhance the platform, as well as the reality of balancing housework and childcare, centered on user cases, and the background of how the service has become an essential infrastructure in everyday life. In addition, the vivid voices of about 10 actual customers and service workers were added to discuss effective directions centered on policy demanders.
Yeon Hyeon-ju, the head of the Living Research Institute, said, “Domestic care services are a realistic and sustainable strategy to solve the crisis of low birth rates and aging population,” and added, “I hope that this meeting will serve as an opportunity to actively engage in social discussions about domestic care services and expand policy support to support them.”
Meanwhile, the Life Research Institute participated in a discussion on low birth rate response with the National Assembly Unicorn Farm last year and proposed government support measures such as income and tax deductions, and is expanding family-friendly welfare services through partnerships with Kakao Bank, Toss, Lotte Department Store, etc.
