
Food upcycling specialist company Reharvest Co., Ltd. announced on the 26th that it was finally selected as an eco-friendly company for the '2025 Super Gap Startup 1000+ Project (DIPS 1000+)' hosted by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups.
The 'Super Gap Startup 1000+ Project' is a government-supported project that discovers excellent deep-tech startups in 10 new industries, including system semiconductors, bio and health, future mobility, and eco-friendly and energy, and fosters them into global unicorn companies. A total of 182 companies were selected this year, and the selected companies will receive various support, including up to 600 million won in commercialization and research and development (R&D) funds over three years, as well as policy funds.
Reharvest is Korea's first food upcycle company that upcycles food byproducts such as beer lees, wheat bran, and shikhye lees generated during the food production process to produce eco-friendly raw materials that can be used in both food and non-food fields. Based on its own upcycling process technology, it is pushing forward to enter the domestic as well as Asian and North American markets.
The Ministry of SMEs and Startups announced that it selected Reharvest as a suitable company for this project after comprehensively evaluating its technological prowess, innovation, growth potential, and global scalability.
Min Alexander Myung-jun, CEO of Reharvest, said, “This selection is the result of an evaluation of the industrial value and sustainability of food upcycling technology,” and added, “As an environmentally responsible company, we will focus on expanding into the global market based on our technological competitiveness.”
