The Korea International Trade Association (KITA) announced on the 23rd that it signed a business agreement (MOU) with the Korea Employment Information Service (KEIS) at the Trade Tower in Samseong-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul to resolve the manpower shortage in industrial sites.
This agreement was promoted to strengthen cooperation with the Korea Employment Information Service, which is in charge of mid- to long-term manpower supply and demand forecasts, to promote joint research on ways to utilize foreign workers based on companies’ actual manpower needs, and to establish mid- to long-term strategies to respond to changes in population structure, in a situation where the working-age population is decreasing and the industrial manpower shortage is worsening due to low birth rates and aging.
Through this agreement, the two organizations plan to jointly carry out various tasks, including ▲ on-site surveys and joint research for securing foreign manpower ▲ provision of foreigner management system data and mutual comparative analysis ▲ joint hosting of seminars. In particular, it is expected that by linking the quantitative manpower data analysis capabilities of the Employment Information Center and the manpower demand information of trade association member companies, it will contribute to accurately diagnosing the industry’s manpower supply and demand issues and devising practical countermeasures.
“The upcoming population change is an issue that will have a major impact on the overall industry and national competitiveness,” said Yoon Jin-sik, chairman of the Korea International Trade Association. “Based on this agreement, we will utilize the expertise of both organizations to establish a policy foundation and analysis system to secure a working-age population.”
