Amazon Web Services and SAP Announce 'Joint AI Innovation Program'

Amazon Web Services (AWS) and SAP announced the AI Co-Innovation Program at SAP Sapphire 2025, SAP’s largest annual technology event. The program will help partners build generative AI applications and agents that help customers quickly solve real-time business challenges.

Many organizations recognize the potential of generative AI for business transformation, but often don’t know where to start. Companies can create significant enterprise value by combining advanced generative AI technologies with enterprise resource planning (ERP) data from key systems. For example, they can optimize delivery routes, predict potential impacts on supply chain operations, or develop accurate financial forecasts.

The Joint AI Innovation Program reflects the shared vision of both companies to help partners define, build, and deploy generative AI applications tailored to their ERP workloads. The program will provide SAP’s enterprise technologies and AWS’s generative AI services to a team of experts from both companies, including AI experts, professional services consultants, and solution architects, to support customers’ implementation journeys. It will also include dedicated technical resources and cloud credits to support the development, testing, and deployment of industry-specific applications.

“AWS and SAP’s long-standing partnership has helped customers accelerate their cloud journey and get more value from their business data. The AWS and SAP Joint AI Innovation Program is an important step forward, providing organizations with the security and flexibility to build generative AI applications by analyzing and leveraging their key SAP data with Amazon Bedrock,” said Ruba Borno, Vice President, Global Specialist and Partner, AWS. “This will enable customers to turn decades of business information into actionable insights, while accelerating their transformation to a more agile, data-driven organization.”

“Through our joint AI innovation program with AWS, SAP is enabling enterprises to solve complex operational challenges accurately and quickly,” said Philipp Herzig, chief technology officer and chief AI officer, SAP. “By combining SAP’s business process expertise with AWS’s comprehensive generative AI capabilities and a platform that is fully integrated with SAP BTP, partners can develop specialized AI agents to solve critical problems, such as detecting financial anomalies in real time or automatically implementing optimizations in the event of supply chain disruptions.”

The program also enables partners to quickly build and scale generative AI applications using the latest generative AI tools and services from Amazon Bedrock, including large-scale language models such as Amazon Nova and Anthropic Claude, on SAP AI Foundation on SAP Business Technology Platform (SAP BTP).

This announcement expands on the work AWS and SAP have been doing to help customers like Hyundai Motor Group, Moderna, and Zurich Insurance Group modernize and migrate their SAP workloads to AWS to realize the availability, flexibility, and scalability of the cloud. Running SAP workloads on AWS will enable customers to combine their data with generative AI solutions. Accenture and Deloitte are the first partners working with AWS and SAP on this program to accelerate the development and deployment of generative AI solutions to solve complex challenges.

“AWS and SAP’s joint AI innovation program combines AWS’s cloud infrastructure with SAP’s enterprise software experience. Accenture’s combination of AI transformation expertise and industry knowledge will allow us to show enterprises exactly how to integrate generative AI services with their critical business workloads,” said Caspar Borggreve, senior managing director and head of the SAP business group at Accenture. “For example, we are working with our public services customers, together with AWS and SAP, to build asset resilience to natural disasters by predicting and responding to environmental issues, protecting asset-intensive environments and maintaining service continuity for their customers.”

“This joint AI innovation program combines the cutting-edge generative AI capabilities of AWS and SAP with Deloitte’s deep industry experience and technical capabilities to deliver innovative solutions for our customers,” said Nishita Henry, global chief commercial officer for AWS at Deloitte. “Through this program, Deloitte is building a financial solution based on Amazon Bedrock that will help healthcare and life sciences companies optimize their product mix, improve forecast accuracy, and maintain competitive pricing even in uncertain market conditions.”
