Decarbon selected as 'Innovation Premier 1000'

DeCarbon, which develops technologies related to carbon neutrality and the hydrogen economy, announced on the 22nd that it was selected for the 'Innovation Premier 1000' program jointly promoted by 13 ministries including the Financial Services Commission.

'Innovation Premier 1000' is a government-led support program that discovers small and medium-sized enterprises with high growth potential in each industry and provides integrated financial and non-financial support. The program, which was introduced by integrating existing similar systems, is structured to provide customized support through policy finance institutions after comprehensively evaluating the research and development capabilities, technological prowess, infrastructure, and marketability of participating companies.

Decarbon possesses a process technology to extract hydrogen using waste plastic as a raw material, and the technology has been recognized for its differentiation and commercialization potential to the extent that it was designated as a hydrogen specialized company by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy in 2024. The company explained that this selection was the result of a positive evaluation of its technological foundation and business capabilities.

According to the Financial Services Commission, major policy finance institutions such as the Korea Development Bank, Small and Medium Business Bank, Export-Import Bank of Korea, Korea Credit Guarantee Fund, Korea Technology Finance Corporation, and Korea Growth Finance Corporation will participate in this first selection. Selected companies will apply for support online and offline through the 'Policy Finance Comprehensive Support Team', and after a review process, a policy finance institution suitable for each company will be assigned. Afterwards, customized support for companies such as financial support, guarantees, and consulting will be provided.

In addition, each ministry will issue 'Innovation Premier Certificates' to companies under its jurisdiction and provide administrative privileges such as additional points for research and development (R&D) support projects. Participating ministries include the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, the Ministry of Science and ICT, the Ministry of Environment, the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Ministry of Health and Welfare, the Korea Customs Service, and the Financial Services Commission.

Through this selection, Decarbon will be able to receive support from the government and policy finance institutions until the end of 2026, and based on this, it plans to pursue hydrogen-related technology advancement and domestic and international business expansion.

Kim Ji-soo, CEO of Dicarbon, said, “This selection is an opportunity for our technological prowess and growth potential to be institutionally recognized,” and added, “We will focus our business capabilities to strengthen our technological competitiveness through cooperation with policy finance institutions in the future and contribute to the realization of carbon neutrality and the hydrogen economy.”
