Gyeonggi Content Promotion Agency (hereinafter referred to as Gyeonggi Content Agency) announced that it is recruiting participants for the '2025 Gyeonggi Metaverse Hackathon' to vitalize the virtual convergence field and foster specialized human resources in Gyeonggi Province until July 31.
Hosted by the Ministry of Science and ICT and Gyeonggi Province and organized by the National IT Industry Promotion Agency and Gyeonggi Content Promotion Agency, the '2025 Gyeonggi Metaverse Hackathon' is a development competition that challenges public problem solving and global corporate tasks based on virtual convergence industry technologies such as metaverse, XR, and AI.
This year’s hackathon will provide mentoring for the contest fields and participants through an agreement with two global companies, The Sandbox Korea and HD Hyundai Site Solutions. There are three contest fields in total: ▲ XR content for solving public issues ▲ Gyeonggi-do culture or symbol experiential content ▲ Realistic XR interactive content utilizing the characteristics of natural objects (sand, gravel, soil, water, etc.).
The competition will be held from August 4th to August 5th through online preliminaries. The online preliminaries will be conducted through written evaluations based on submitted documents. Afterwards, teams that pass the preliminaries will be provided with expert mentoring from planning, development to presentation through a capacity-building process before participating in the main event. The main event will be held from August 26th to August 27th at the Pangyo 2nd Techno Valley Enterprise Support Hub, and each team will be evaluated for their plan PT and demonstration presentation.
Eligibility for participation includes Gyeonggi-do residents, employees of Gyeonggi-do companies, and students currently enrolled at universities in the province. Teams of 2 to 4 people can participate. The 6 teams selected through the preliminary round will be awarded a total of 10 million won in prize money and other benefits such as career and mentoring programs.
