Edtech company Techville Education (CEO Lee Hyeong-se) announced on the 21st that it has been selected as the main organization for the ‘Honam/Jeju Region Digital Sprout Project’ for the third consecutive year.
The 'Digital Sprout Project' is a national digital talent development project hosted by the Ministry of Education and operated by the Korea Foundation for the Advancement of Science and Creativity. It has been implemented since the end of 2022 to provide software (SW) and artificial intelligence (AI) experience opportunities to elementary, middle, and high school students nationwide and systematically cultivate digital capabilities.
Techville Education has been conducting the Digital Sprout Project since the first half of 2023, and was selected as an 'excellent' institution among 43 Digital Sprout operating institutions last year. Based on three consecutive years of operating experience, it has established a SW and AI expert instructor operating system to improve instructor capabilities, and has been praised for its efforts to spread results through its own competitions and nationwide programs.
This year, we were selected as the main organization for the Honam and Jeju regions for the third consecutive year, receiving high evaluations for our excellent programs developed by current teachers, our experience in operating teacher training and digital education projects, and our instructor pool comprised of current teachers.
This year’s project will run for approximately 8 months from May to December, and will be operated as a field-centered education method that directly visits digitally excluded areas across the country, including Honam. The program will operate two types of programs: a basic program that contains core digital capabilities, and a specialized program that considers curriculum convergence, regional specialization, and career linkage.
The basic program consists of four types: ▲Exploring the Future Career Path That's Right for Me (elementary school) ▲Self-directed learning completed with AI (middle school) ▲Exciting digital convergence play class (special school) ▲Creating a smart world with AI and data (multicultural), and the specialized program consists of two types: ▲Protect our precious cultural heritage (elementary school) ▲SDGs Digital Challenge: Changing the world with games (high school).
In this project, Techville Education will operate additional programs targeting socially disadvantaged groups such as special education students and multicultural students, in addition to excellent programs developed last year. In the future, a competition and a national project presentation will also be held for students who participated in the Digital Sprout Program.
Park Ki-hyun, head of the EdTech division of Techville Education, said, “This program is designed so that current teachers can effectively utilize it in school classes,” and “Based on a program that has been verified in the field, we will continue to operate it to create excellent results and expand digital education opportunities for underprivileged classes.”
'Digital Sprout Camp' is open for school unit applications from June, and participation fee is free. Detailed information about camp participation can be found on the Digital Sprout Camp homepage .
