Newbility Signs Business Agreement with Lion Robotics

Newbility announced on the 19th that it signed a business agreement (MOU) with Lion Robotics for next-generation autonomous driving robot services. Through this agreement, the two companies plan to develop and jointly commercialize innovative robot service solutions in various fields such as ▲patrol ▲security ▲defense ▲firefighting by combining each company’s strengths.

Newbility provides robot services that anyone can easily use based on camera-based autonomous driving technology and a RaaS (Robot-as-a-Service) platform. In fact, it has proven its technological prowess and marketability by successfully operating the first domestic robot delivery service with Yogiyo and continuously commercializing robot patrol services with SK Shielders.

Lion Robotics is a quadruped robot company founded by researchers from KAIST, and is attracting attention with its quadruped robot 'Lybo' that surpasses Boston Dynamics' 'Spot'. The self-developed Lybo boasts energy efficiency and durability that can complete a full marathon course (42.195 km) on a single charge, and in particular, it boasts stable mobility and maneuverability even in special environments such as outdoors and rough terrain.

Through this MOU, the two companies plan to link Neubility’s autonomous driving solution ‘Neubility Sense’ and RaaS service platform ‘Neubility Robot Platform’ with Lion Robotics’ quadruped robots. Through this, they plan to cooperate to enable precise and safe robot operation in various environments such as complex urban areas, industrial sites with many risk factors, public safety, defense, and firefighting.

In particular, the combination of Lion Robotics’ outstanding quadrupedal hardware technology and Newbility’s data-based autonomous driving and service platform is expected to create a new robot service model that has never existed before. The two companies plan to shorten the robot service construction time and accelerate market expansion.

Newbility CEO Lee Sang-min said, “Through this partnership with Lion Robotics, we expect that the technological capabilities of both companies will be combined to further expand the possibilities of autonomous robot services,” and “Through this collaboration, we will bring forward a future in which heterogeneous/multi-type robots will more naturally permeate industrial sites and daily life.”
