RegTech startup Canvas & People has been selected as a new resident company for the first half of 2025 for Seoul Fintech Lab, a fintech specialized startup support organization operated by the Seoul Metropolitan Government.
Canvas & People develops and operates an AI-based tax analysis solution, Tax Canvas. This solution structurally analyzes the positions of both tax authorities and taxpayers, and supports practical tax interpretation and risk response. It analyzes vast legal data such as regulations, case law, and tax laws through its own AI engine (TC-EM, TC-MIP, TC-AF, etc.) and automatically derives issues for each case, thereby shortening the time required for tax review.
In particular, it provides a function that can compare and organize conflicting logic represented by 'Gapseol/Eulseol', so it is utilized as a decision-making tool that can be easily used not only by tax experts but also by working-level staff within companies.
This technology is the result of integrating the latest machine learning-based technologies such as KoSimCSE-RoBERTa and Sparse Vector Indexing, and is evaluated to have strengths in semantic-based search and logic automatic development specialized in the tax field. It is currently providing services to tax law firms and compliance organizations of large corporations, and is also preparing premium services including tax-saving strategy provision and tax expert linkage in the future.
Canvas & People is also accelerating service expansion through external collaboration. In June 2024, it signed a business agreement with tax law firm 'Jeongseong' and established an AI model improvement and on-site feedback system based on actual case analysis data. In addition, in February 2025, it is also piloting a B2C expansion model that provides its tax analysis service to 2.75 million households and approximately 38,000 tenants in cooperation with the real estate platform 'Dudogaesang'.
Investment and growth strategies are also specifically prepared. Starting with seed investment attraction in 2025, the company aims to enter the pre-A round in 2026, and is pursuing collaboration with WM Center affiliated venture capitals and strategic investors along with the TIPS program. In addition, it plans to secure data and verify technology through specific project-based funds.
Canvas & People CEO Choi Ha-young has been leading the implementation of technology specialized in practical services based on his research experience in the field of AI-based data analysis. He succeeded in securing initial customers based on his network with tax-related organizations such as the National Tax Service, the National Tax Tribunal, and tax law firms, and is also considering expanding into related fields such as law and ESG in the future.
Canvas & People is receiving official recognition for its technological prowess and growth potential through its move into Seoul Fintech Lab. Seoul Fintech Lab is a specialized fintech incubator under the Seoul Metropolitan Government that provides various support to companies that move in, including office space, investment connections, overseas expansion, and regulatory response.
A Seoul Fintech Lab official said, “Canvas & People is a company with the technology to interpret and automate the complex logic of the tax field with AI,” and added, “We plan to actively support them so that they can achieve rapid growth through Seoul Fintech Lab’s global expansion and investment programs.”
