Point Mobile Receives Additional Orders Worth 9.5 Billion Won from Amazon

Point Mobile announced on the 19th that it has secured an order for mobile computer products worth 9.5 billion won from Amazon . As of this year, the cumulative order amount from Amazon has reached 12 billion won, and it is expected to exceed 20 billion won by the end of the year, an 85% increase from the previous year.

This year, Point Mobile will expand the supply of its flagship product, 'PM86', and launch a new product, 'TR54'. TR54 is a specialized product that meets all of Amazon's requirements, including a barcode scanner, WiFi 6E, RFID tag, and NFC. It is scheduled to be launched in July and supplied within the third quarter. The company explains that it expects the highest sales ever this year, as it has secured a stable new growth revenue source.

Point Mobile signed an eight-year, $200 million (approximately KRW 284 billion) industrial mobile device supply contract with Amazon in 2019, and has been supplying products to various e-commerce logistics fields such as warehouse operation, inventory, and delivery management. In particular, in 2021, during the pandemic, sales grew to approximately KRW 20 billion per year as Amazon expanded its warehouses in the United States on a large scale. After a lull in 2022-2023, sales began to increase again in 2024.

Currently, Amazon operates local marketplaces in about 20 countries, has more than 600 ultra-large logistics centers in the U.S. alone, and operates more than 200 logistics centers in other countries. By 2025, it will invest about $15 billion to expand about 80 new logistics centers in the U.S. Point Mobile is delivering products centered around these new facilities.

In addition, Amazon is expanding its 15-minute delivery 'Quick Commerce' service that started in the Indian market to the Middle East, and Point Mobile will supply its products to the service. In addition, it will expand product supply to Amazon's major offline affiliates such as Amazon Fresh, Amazon Go, and Whole Foods Market.

A Point Mobile official said, “Industrial mobile devices are being used in a variety of industries beyond logistics and retail, including manufacturing, energy, and public services,” adding, “We are expanding our global market share based on customer-tailored products, price competitiveness, and a diverse product lineup.”

He added, “Following securing global retail customers such as Amazon, we will enter the disaster safety net (fire, police, public) market and the K-defense market with 5G-based products, and strengthen our new growth engine through the industrial tablets and POS terminals currently under development.”

Point Mobile has been granting new stock subscription rights equivalent to the purchase price since 2020 when signing a supply contract with Amazon, and if Amazon exercises all of these rights, it will secure approximately 18% of the shares. This is equivalent to becoming Point Mobile's second largest shareholder.
