Korea Startup Forum (hereinafter referred to as KOSPO, Chairman Sangwoo Han) announced on the 25th that it will officially launch the 'AI Think Tank', a consultative body to seek private-sector-centered policy responses and industrial development together with AI startups.
This launch is a move to expand effective contact points with government policy based on the expertise of AI startups and the autonomy of the private sector, as the new government has declared from the beginning of its administration that it will actively foster the AI industry as a future national growth engine.
KOSPO's 'AI Think Tank' will function as a professional private organization that goes beyond a simple industry council to propose effective policies and provide advice to the government. By using the name 'Think Tank' rather than a 'Council', we plan to enable startups to participate as strategic partners in the government policymaking process based on their technological prowess and industrial experience in the AI field. In addition, as many of KOSPO's 2,500 member companies provide innovative AI-based services and accumulate meaningful data through them, serving as a 'data dam', a core supply base for the national AI ecosystem, we will focus on discovering and eliminating institutional barriers that hinder the linkage of high-quality data with AI development.
The 'AI Think Tank' will be formed by 17 promising startups leading AI technology in various fields, centered around TWC (The White Communication) CEO Park Min-young, who is currently serving as a director of COSPO. In addition to TWC, ▲Newsistock (CEO Moon Kyung-rok), ▲Ro&Company (Vice CEO Jeong Jae-seong), ▲Lunit (Chairman Baek Seung-wook), ▲Megazone Cloud (CEO Lee Joo-wan), ▲MetaDX (CEO Kim Jin-wook), ▲Vibridge (CEO Park Jeong-hyeon), ▲Seoul Robotics (CEO Lee Han-bin), ▲Agmo (CEO Park Seung-jin), ▲Ellis Group (CEO Kim Jae-won), ▲Zetic AI (CEO Kim Yeon-seok), ▲Zigbang (CEO Ahn Seong-woo), ▲Cubic (CEO Jeong Min-chan), ▲Codyt (CEO Jeong Ji-eun), ▲Persona AI (CEO Yoo Seung-jae), ▲Huray Positive (CEO Choi Du-ah), and Wisdom, led by COSPO Chairman Han Sang-woo, will also be joining. In addition, Koo Tae-eon, Vice President of Kospo Policy (CEO of Tech & Law Ventures), will provide advice on AI-related policy and regulatory issues and advise on the external activities of the 'AI Think Tank', contributing to enhancing policy reliability and legal completeness.
Starting in July, the COSP's 'AI Think Tank' plans to hold discussions with key ministries such as the Office of the President, the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, and the National Assembly's science, technology, and industry-related subcommittees. Through this, it plans to collect regulatory difficulties and policy demands from major startup sites and sequentially deliver policy proposals to secure industrial competitiveness. In addition, the goal is to expand the number of participating AI Think Tank companies to 100 by the end of the year and establish it as a key hub for building an AI startup ecosystem.
Han Sang-woo, Chairman of the Korea Startup Forum, emphasized, “AI is going beyond a simple technology and is becoming the center of national competitiveness and a fundamental turning point that will change the future paradigm.” He added, “KOSPO will continue to make practical contributions by closely linking innovation led by AI startups with government policies and enabling the country to leap forward as an industrial ecosystem with global competitiveness.”
