ATB Lab, a startup that provides battery diagnostic and operation solutions for safer and more efficient battery use, announced on the 14th that it was finally selected for the '2025 Ultra-Gap Startup 1000+' project hosted by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups.
This selection is interpreted as a result of highly acclaimed research into the originality and global expandability of ATB Lab's real-time battery monitoring, diagnosis, and operating system technology.
“Super Gap Startup 1000+” is a government-led startup support project to intensively foster promising startups that will lead future strategic industries such as system semiconductors, future automobiles, artificial intelligence (AI)/big data, eco-friendly/energy, bio/healthcare, etc.
ATB Lab was included in this program in recognition of its technological prowess in the energy field.
ATB Lab is a startup that provides real-time monitoring, diagnosis, and life prediction solutions for safe and efficient use of batteries used in electric vehicles (EVs) and energy storage systems (ESS). It is expected to be applicable to real-time battery diagnosis to address social concerns and interest due to the recent continuous occurrence of ESS and electric vehicle fire accidents in Korea and abroad, and to eco-friendly use such as remanufacturing, reuse, and recycling of used batteries.
With this project selection, ATB Lab will receive up to 600 million won in commercialization funds and up to 1 billion won in research and development (R&D) funds over the next three years. Based on this, all-round growth is expected in various fields such as technological advancement, investment attraction, and overseas market entry.
ATB Lab CEO Jinhyeok Choi said, “With our selection for this support project as an opportunity, we will expand the technology that was piloted at KEPCO ESS facilities to domestic and foreign ESS and EVs to expand the market, and we will also strive to advance technology by grafting AI technology onto our existing technologies.” He added, “Based on our battery diagnostic technology, ATB Lab will do its best to help the secondary battery industry, which is facing difficulties such as fire accidents and the electric vehicle chasm, make a leap forward.”
