'Kasuri' operator Karang attracts investment

Karang Co., Ltd. (CEO Jong-Kwan Park and Sang-Wook Ha), which operates the mobility maintenance platform 'Kasuri', has completed its Series B investment by attracting a strategic investment of 7 billion won from Obigo Co., Ltd., a specialized SDV service platform company. This investment will be focused on advancing AI-based vehicle predictive maintenance technology, stabilizing profitability, and expanding global business.

Karang has been aiming to be a 'mobility healthcare platform' that predicts vehicle failures in advance based on artificial intelligence technology, informs drivers of customized maintenance times, and provides maintenance/repair services at reasonable estimates. 'Carsuri', which started as an on-site engine oil and battery replacement service, is leading the digital transformation of the mobility aftermarket by expanding its business to repair shop linkage, vehicle management subscription service, and B2B SaaS solution.

This investment will be used for ▲ improving AI maintenance recommendation and quotation algorithms ▲ expanding and developing maintenance shop and industrial complex linkage APIs ▲ establishing a subscription model for a vehicle preventive maintenance platform based on SDV (Software Defined Vehicle). In particular, Karang is preparing to enter Southeast Asian markets such as Singapore and Malaysia from the second half of this year, and plans to supply vehicle management solutions to rental car and car sharing companies within the next year. It also aims to test-operate on-site maintenance services and subscription-based maintenance models through cooperation with local partners.

Overseas, companies such as RepairPal in the US and GoMechanic in India are quickly taking over the market with AI-based vehicle management models, and Carang, as a Korean SaaS platform, is also being recognized for its potential for global expansion based on its technological prowess and field operation capabilities.

Profitability is also being built steadily. Kasuri has a customer reuse rate of over 50%, and large-scale B2B contracts such as SK Rent-a-Car, Socar, and Hyundai Capital are being maintained for an average of more than 4 years. In addition, we plan to further strengthen the fixed revenue base by introducing an AI management software subscription model for repair shops and parts distributors.

“This investment is an important starting point for technology-centered future mobility management,” said Park Jong-gwan and Ha Sang-wook, CEOs of Karang. “Karang will grow beyond a maintenance platform into an AI-based mobility healthcare company.”
