LiDAR leader SOS Lab announced on the 12th that it signed a strategic business agreement (MOU) with EMS, an eco-friendly energy solution and smart technology company, to conquer the global smart complex sensor market. This agreement was held at the Honam Alumni Association of the Youth Entrepreneurship Academy operated by the Korea SMEs and Startups Agency.
Through this agreement, the two companies plan to establish a technology and business cooperation system between the two companies and maximize business synergy. In particular, they plan to actively seek collaboration for entry into the global market in the next-generation smart complex sensor field that EMS is focusing on.
EMS is a promising startup that is actively conducting research and development and business centered on energy, new materials, and smart technology. Within three years of its establishment, it has achieved rapid results, such as applying for and registering a total of 23 patents, successfully executing and completing 7 government projects, and being selected as one of the Legend 50+ participating companies in the semiconductor gas filter material field.
The multi-functional smart composite sensor currently under development by EMS is a key element of a smart IT platform that can be applied across society, including ▲smart cities (smart streetlights), ▲industry and public safety (electric vehicle fire detection), ▲smart factories and manufacturing, and ▲military fields.
EMS is also developing an AI platform based on data collected from complex sensors, and has its own development capabilities across all areas from hardware to software.
SOS Lab plans to combine its LiDAR technology with EMS’s smart composite sensor technology to create tangible results in the field of smart city and smart transportation infrastructure construction. The two companies also plan to continue their cooperation in providing technical support, sample provision, and rental of development equipment and software.
Lee Han-chan, CEO of EMS, said, “We expect that this agreement will create a powerful synergy by combining SOS Lab’s precise LiDAR technology with our smart complex sensor technology,” adding, “Through the cooperation between our two companies, we will establish a bridgehead for entering the global smart infrastructure market and produce tangible results.”
Jeong Ji-seong, CEO of SOS Lab, said, “I am very honored to be working with EMS, which has excellent technology and execution capabilities led by CEO Lee Han-chan,” and “We will grow together as partners leading the global smart infrastructure market by combining the core competencies of both companies.”
He continued, “This agreement is even more meaningful because it was made based on the strong bond between the companies that graduated from the Honam Youth Entrepreneurship Academy.” He added, “The alumni association aims to actively support the growth of junior companies, share business know-how, and build cooperative relationships. In fact, we share expertise in various fields through the annual special lecture program, and an in-depth special lecture on government R&D projects and prototype production is scheduled for June, which is expected to be of great help in the actual growth of junior companies.”
