
Google has announced a partnership with Yonsei University and Ajou University. Accordingly, they will actively pursue joint programs to strengthen research capabilities and innovate education in the field of artificial intelligence (AI). This collaboration is part of Google’s ongoing efforts to help create a domestic artificial intelligence research ecosystem and foster future talent in response to the rapidly growing AI industry.
At the signing ceremony held at Yonsei University in Seoul, key figures including Cris Turner, Vice President of Government Affairs & Public Policy, Knowledge & Information Products at Google, Hwang Sung-hye, Vice President of Google Korea, Yoon Dong-seop, President of Yonsei University, and Choi Ki-joo, President of Ajou University attended and shared the direction of business cooperation and a common vision, thereby strengthening their will for mutual cooperation.
Through this collaboration with the university, Google will share its cutting-edge AI technology and expertise with Yonsei and Ajou universities, while providing various resources and programs so that faculty and students can conduct more in-depth learning and practical research. The collaboration includes diverse activities such as ▲promoting joint AI projects ▲developing curriculum and designing curriculum ▲searching for opportunities for practice and workshops.
Google Vice President Chris Turner said, “Korean academic institutions are important potential partners in the responsible development of AI and the safe advancement of the global AI ecosystem,” and added, “Google will work closely with Yonsei University and Ajou University to help advance education, research, and advanced discourse in the field of AI.”
Hong Soon-man, director of the BK21 Education and Research Group at the Department of Public Administration and the Institute for National Management at Yonsei University, said, “This joint declaration will be an important starting point for balanced reflection on the technical possibilities and social responsibilities of AI and for creating a sustainable AI ecosystem.” He added, “Yonsei University will contribute to establishing ethical and sustainable AI governance based on the three axes of education, research, and public opinion.”
President Choi Ki-joo of Ajou University said, “We will work with key partners leading the global AI industry to create a leading model that contributes not only to related education and research, but also to the development of industry and society,” adding, “I hope to continue Ajou’s practical academic style through collaboration with experts in the field.”
