Embedded virtualization specialist Kuntec Co., Ltd. announced on the 9th that it signed a business agreement (MOU) with global simulation solution company dSPACE Korea to establish a software verification environment and pioneer new markets.
This agreement is part of a strategic technology collaboration to enhance the safety and reliability of software in various industrial fields including software-defined vehicles (SDVs). The two companies plan to cooperate mainly on tasks such as ▲establishing a virtualized verification environment based on Software In the Loop (SIL), ▲enhancing solution linkage, and ▲jointly exploring new markets at home and abroad.
The SIL verification method is a technology that verifies software in a virtual environment without actual hardware, and offers advantages such as improved development efficiency, early defect detection, and cost reduction. It is being utilized in various fields such as automobiles, defense, and industrial control, and demand is increasing in high-reliability industries that require precise simulation.
Through its self-developed embedded virtualization solution, 'FastVLabs', Kuntek provides an environment where complex control system development and verification can be performed without physical equipment. Through this agreement, Kuntek plans to advance the industry-specific customized software verification system by linking with dSPACE's model-based development (MBD) technology.
dSPACE is a global company headquartered in Germany that provides HIL (Hardware In the Loop), SIL-based simulation and control system verification toolchains. It is used by global automakers and research institutes in the autonomous vehicle, electric vehicle, aerospace and defense industries.
Kuntec's FastVLabs is the only solution in Korea that applies Level 4 hardware virtualization technology based on the Instruction Set Simulator (ISS). It has already been applied to major domestic industries such as Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) and Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power, and its technological prowess has been verified. In addition, technology linkage with dSPACE solutions is also possible through the FMI (Functional Mock-Up Interface) standard.
“This agreement is a significant step forward in building a virtual verification system required in high-reliability industries,” said Bang Hyuk-jun, CEO of Kuntec. “Through our collaboration with dSPACE, we will drive technological differentiation not only in SDV but also in specialized industries such as defense and aviation.”
Son Tae-young, CEO of dSPACE Korea, said, “The combination of Kuntec’s FastVLabs and our simulation technology will enable us to provide our customers with a more precise and reliable software verification environment,” and “This collaboration will have a positive impact not only in the domestic market but also in the global market.”
