The Gyeonggi Center for Creative Economy and Innovation (CEO Won-kyung Kim, hereinafter referred to as the Gyeonggi Innovation Center), a public accelerator that supports the growth of startups, announced on the 7th that it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Goyang Industrial Promotion Agency to promote corporate fostering.
According to this agreement, the two organizations plan to open the Gyeonggi Northern Office of the Gyeonggi Innovation Center at CIC (Creative Innovation Campus) and promote the following cooperative projects.
- Joint discovery and fostering of excellent companies in Goyang Special City and northern Gyeonggi Province
- Joint operation of specialized corporate support programs such as consulting and IR
- Promotion of investment attraction projects of each organization
- Joint response to other issues where cooperation is recognized as necessary, etc.
The Gyeonggi Innovation Center and Goyang Industrial Promotion Agency have collaborated on the establishment and operation of the 'Goyang Step-Up Growth Fund' since January, and are also continuously discussing collaboration on discovering, attracting, and fostering companies in Goyang Special City and the northern Gyeonggi region.
The two organizations are expanding various cooperation measures, including investment exceeding the investment capital of the Promotion Agency in companies located in Goyang Special City, priority recommendation for the Ministry of SMEs and Startups' public-private joint entrepreneur discovery and nurturing program (TIPS: Tech Incubator Program for Startups), and operation of Goyang Special City's specialized IR program.
The Gyeonggi Northern Office of the Gyeonggi Innovation Center, which will be opened at CIC, will be positioned as a key base for business fostering collaboration between the two organizations, and will expand the specialized programs and TIPS programs that have been operated mainly in Pangyo, as well as regular IR events to support investment attraction, to Goyang Special City and the northern part of Gyeonggi Province.
The two organizations expect that this agreement will provide a real growth engine to the startup ecosystem in the northern Gyeonggi region, centered around Goyang Special City. The synergy between the startup support infrastructure of the Gyeonggi Innovation Center and the regional network of the Goyang Industrial Promotion Agency is expected to provide a foundation for local companies to access more diverse resources and opportunities.
Gyeonggi Innovation Center CEO Kim Won-kyung said, “Through this agreement, we have established a solid foundation for exchange and cooperation between the two organizations,” and “Gyeonggi Innovation Center will utilize its know-how from carrying out various startup support programs and Startup 815 IR events centered around Pangyo to discover and foster excellent companies in the northern Gyeonggi region centered around the Gyeonggi Northern Office within the CIC, and will also work to build an investment ecosystem.”
