Grand Ventures Invests in DB Lab, Operator of 'Userspoon'

Grand Ventures (CEO Han Jeong-gyu), a VC (venture capital firm) specializing in edutech, content, and impact, has completed a Pre-A investment (valuation, etc. undisclosed) in DBD Lab (CEO Kang Ji-soo) . DBD Lab has attracted seed investment from The Invention Lab, Neowiz Partners, and Jang Jin-gyu, Chairman of Companion Labs, and Grand Ventures and Smart Study Ventures participated in this Pre-A round.

DBD Lab operates a Research Ops SaaS called 'UserSpoon' that helps companies efficiently conduct user experience (UX) research. It automates the entire process from research design, question creation, response collection to result analysis, allowing users to easily utilize various research techniques without separate expertise. In addition, it secures participants through 'Woojutest', a mobile app service for panel recruitment, and analyzes the consistency and sincerity of responses based on artificial intelligence and data technology to secure the reliability of research results. Based on this systematic and virtuous research system, DBD Lab provides accurate and efficient customer experience analysis at a low cost, helping companies focus on their business.

“We defined what DBD Lab sells as ‘research culture’ rather than ‘research tools,’” said Kang Ji-soo, CEO and founder of DBD Lab. “Although the UX and UX research market has grown rapidly since our founding, I still think it is in its infancy.” He added, “Our goal is to lead research operations in Asia through UserSpoon and enable customers to naturally perceive research as a ‘data-based research system,’ rather than a ‘one-off event. ’”

Grand Ventures CEO Han Jeong-gyu, who decided on this investment, said, “Existing UX research was conducted mainly by external experts, making it difficult to immediately execute and repeat, but DBD Lab automates this and provides value that traditional research companies could not, and it was impressive that they grew it into a service that large corporations, financial institutions, and unicorn startups seek out first.” He continued, “With AI technology at the forefront, markets in almost every field are changing at an unprecedented rate, so how accurately a company analyzes market and customer experience data can determine its survival. In the rapidly growing and increasingly important ‘market intelligence’ field, we highly evaluated DBD Lab’s technological competitiveness, the expandability of its customer experience analysis products, and its potential for global expansion.”

He continued, “Grand Ventures is the CVC (corporate venture capital) and strategic investment firm of Omega Point (CEOs Lee Choong-ki and Han Jeong-gyu), which has created the nation’s best critical thinking mathematics and gifted education brand ‘Simmath’ for 25 years. We will do our best as a growth partner by generously providing the business know-how, infrastructure, and network that we have accumulated while brainstorming DB Lab’s growth strategy.”
