
George Mason University Korea announced on the 30th that it signed a business agreement (MOU) with the Global Digital Innovation Network (GDIN), an international cooperation platform that supports the creation of a digital entrepreneurship and startup ecosystem, for global education and research cooperation in the entrepreneurship field.
The signing ceremony was attended by key figures from George Mason University’s Costello College of Business and the US campus, as well as the Fairfax City Economic Development Authority Director, which added to the significance of the agreement. This agreement was signed during an official visit to Korea by George Mason University’s Costello College of Business and the Fairfax City Economic Development Authority (EDA) in Virginia, USA.
The delegation, consisting of George Mason University Vice President for External Affairs and Alumni Relations Trishana E. Bowden, George Mason University Vice President for Corporate and Foundation Partnerships Lauren Bird, Mason University Executive Vice Dean for Undergraduate Affairs and Global Engagement JK Aier, Mason University Costello College of Business Executive Vice Dean for External Affairs and Strategic Engagement Patrick Soleymani, Costello College of Business Associate Dean for External Affairs and Strategic Engagement and Fairfax Economic Development Authority Commissioner Chris Bruno, Fairfax Economic Development Authority Commissioner, is conducting various programs such as seminars, official meetings, and student exchange events for five days from April 28 to May 2, 2025 to strengthen cooperative relationships with key organizations such as the Korea Data Industry Promotion Agency, Seoul Fintech Lab, and Incheon Startup Park.
Through this MOU, George Mason University Korea Campus will operate an internship program in conjunction with GDIN to provide students with global practical experience, and GDIN will have the opportunity to secure promising talent and expand programs through collaboration with George Mason University students. In addition, the two institutions will pursue practical industry-academic cooperation plans such as startup fostering programs, sharing information on innovative businesses, joint research and curriculum development in the field of entrepreneurship, and joint hosting of international events.

Located in Northern Virginia near Washington, D.C., we leverage our strategic location to provide government, business, and students with hands-on education and entrepreneurial-focused programs that maximize opportunities for industry-academia collaboration, internships, and career networking,” said JK Aier, senior vice provost for academic affairs and global engagement at George Mason University’s Costello School of Business.
He continued, “This business agreement will be an important milestone for Costello School of Business to effectively respond to the rapidly changing business environment and establish itself as a global hub.”
Joshua Park, head of George Mason University Korea, said, “Through this agreement, we will further strengthen the global connection between our U.S. campus and the city of Fairfax, and provide domestic and international students with opportunities for experience in the startup innovation ecosystem and practical growth.” He also emphasized, “Based on innovation, expertise, and entrepreneurship, we will strengthen educational and research cooperation between Korea and the U.S. in the field of the 4th Industrial Revolution and serve as a trustworthy bridgehead so that students, various companies, and government agencies can advance to the global stage.”
