Wonkang Co., Ltd. (CEO Kang Tae-young) won the ‘Breakthrough Product/Equipment’ category at the 2025 KTA Tunnelling Awards hosted by the Korea Tunnelling and Underground Space Association (KTA).
The award-winning technology is ‘technology to improve the performance of rock excavation picker using plasma reinforcement’, and it is the result of joint research and development conducted by Wonkang Co., Ltd. and the Korea Institute of Construction Technology (CEO Park Seon-gyu) as a demand & family company, and it is a technology that both organizations jointly won at this award.
The technology has dramatically improved wear resistance and work efficiency by applying plasma reinforcement technology to the pick cutter, a key component of rock excavation roadheader equipment, and is making a significant contribution to improving actual performance and productivity at tunnel and underground construction sites.
This award is evaluated as an official recognition of Wonkang Co., Ltd.'s innovative technology that contributed to the development of the tunneling industry and the achievements of bringing about change through actual application of that technology in the field.
