Busan Creative Economy Innovation Center (CEO Yongwoo Kim, hereinafter referred to as Busan Creative Economy Innovation Center) announced that it will operate a joint pavilion with 7 creative economy innovation centers nationwide at the 'Climbers Startup JAPAN EXPO 2025' to be held in Tokyo, Japan from May 6 to 10 and will hold an open innovation forum there.
This event (Event name: Plug in: Tokyo) is part of the 'Global Strategy Hub Project' hosted by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, and is the first joint program to be promoted after Busan Changgyeong was newly designated as a base center specializing in supporting entry into the Japanese market. The launch of 'Plug in: Tokyo' will be an important starting point for Changgyeong centers across the country to cooperate and begin full-scale entry into Japan and open innovation.
Joint participation ▲ It consists of an open innovation forum hosted by Busan Changgyeong, and 7 regional Changgyeong centers and 10 promising startups will participate together to explore various business opportunities in Japan.
First of all, 'Climbers Startup JAPAN EXPO 2025' will discover business connections and investment attraction opportunities in the Japanese market through joint exhibitions, B2B meetups, and startup pitching.
In particular, Busan Changgyeong is working directly with the exhibition organizer, Japan's leading SaaS company 'Sansan', to operate a joint pavilion, and plans to directly plan and operate side programs such as booth tours and Korean exchange events to maximize local promotion of participating startups.
In addition, the Open Innovation Forum, which is held independently, will feature panel discussions and networking where startups and corporate executives with experience in advancing into Japan will participate to share their experiences in collaboration, investment, and M&A with Japanese companies. This forum is being promoted in cooperation with the K-Startup Center Tokyo (KSC Tokyo), operated by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups and the Korea SMEs and Startups Agency, and the two organizations plan to continue their cooperation in the future.
This event goes beyond simple exhibition participation, and aims to create practical open innovation cases through strategic entry into the Japanese market and connections with influential partners such as local large corporations and investors.
Busan Changgyeong Global Open Innovation Team Leader Je Ha-na said, “This event will be an important starting point for Busan Changgyeong to fully launch its role as the first official program and base center to support domestic startups’ entry into Japan.” She added, “Based on global cooperation with Changgyeong centers across the country, we will create cases of domestic startups’ entry into Japan and actual global open innovation achievements.”
