Countdown AI, Ministry of SMEs and Startups 'Tips' selected

Generative AI startup Countdn AI announced on the 26th that it was finally selected for TIPS, a private investment-led technology startup support program of the Ministry of SMEs and Startups.

This selection was made through the recommendation of accelerator New Paradigm Investment, which attracted seed investment in November 2023. Accordingly, Countdown AI will receive up to 700 million won in government and private support, including 500 million won in research and development (R&D) funds and 200 million won in overseas marketing and commercialization funds over the next two years.

Countdown AI operates the AI-based image and video creation application 'MeeAww', which has recorded over 1.3 million cumulative global users. The app provides the ability to create various styles of portrait images from a single selfie, and is evaluated to have increased user convenience and usability through animation-style filters and character consistency maintenance technology.

Through this TIPS project, the company aims to develop multimodal generative AI technology that can comprehensively process various data such as text, images, and videos. Based on its own LLM (large-scale language model) architecture, it plans to implement an ‘all-in-one generator’ that can analyze and combine the characteristics of input data to create not only images but also video content.

In particular, the strategy is to increase its usability in the fields of storytelling and brand content by advancing technology that consistently maintains the appearance, style, and personality of characters in various situations. In the future, the technology will be provided externally in the form of the 'Miu' API so that companies and creators can utilize it.

Countdown AI CEO Kim Sang-hee said, “This TIPS selection is an opportunity to verify our technological prowess and market potential,” and added, “We will focus on independently developing a multimodal AI model and expand our business through collaboration with global content companies and recruiting talent.”
