AI technology company Upstage announced on the 28th that it was selected as one of the '2025 Global AI 100 Companies (AI 100)' announced by global market research firm CB Insights.
CB Insights annually selects 100 companies that will lead the AI industry by comprehensively evaluating unlisted AI companies based on various factors such as technology, business performance, investment attraction status, and human resource composition. The 'AI 100', which is in its 9th year, was announced by dividing it into three categories: ▲AI infrastructure, ▲horizontal AI, and ▲vertical AI.
Upstage was selected in the 'AI Infrastructure' category among these. It is the only company in Korea with foundation model development capabilities, and this is the first time that a Korean LLM (large-scale language model) development company has been named to the AI 100. The evaluation reflected Upstage's self-developed optical character recognition (OCR)-based document processing technology 'Document Pass' and its own LLM 'SOLAR' technology.
Of the 100 companies selected this year, only 27 companies from 13 countries are based outside the United States, and Upstage is included as a representative of Korea. The company sees this selection as a demonstration of its technological prowess and competitiveness in the global market.
Upstage plans to accelerate the transition to AI by industry in the future and expand its global business centered on its US and Japanese corporations. To this end, it is preparing to release new AI products such as the next-generation 'Solar' model with expanded parameters, a 'Chain of Thought'-based inference model, and a multimodal model combining OCR and LLM.
