SAS, a global leader in data and AI (artificial intelligence), announced that it will conduct comprehensive industry-academic cooperation with Hoseo University's Big Data AI Department, including fostering creative and convergent talents needed in the era of artificial intelligence.
Through this industry-academic cooperation, SAS Korea (CEO Lee Jung-hyeok, www.sas.com/ko_kr) plans to provide SAS education courses to Hoseo University’s Big Data AI Department and also support career development programs such as internships and new employee recommendations. Hoseo University plans to utilize SAS Korea’s academic programs to provide students with a more systematic education course and practical learning experience.
Hoseo University Big Data AI Department is opening new undergraduate and graduate courses this year for SAS program utilization education. Students can utilize SAS free software and various learning resources, and also have the opportunity to practice SAS-based analysis through special lectures. In addition, various benefits are provided, such as education and certification exams, opportunities to participate in the SAS Global Internship Program held annually, mock interviews that can help data scientists in their future job search, and discounts on books.
In particular, Hoseo University is introducing the 'SAS Academic Specialization', a degree-linked program that integrates SAS analysis technology into the curriculum. Through this, Hoseo University's Big Data AI undergraduate and graduate school degree programs will include an analysis curriculum utilizing SAS to support the development of data analysis specialist careers. Students can obtain the 'SAS Academic Specialization' qualification (SAS international qualification) by completing two courses (total 6 credits) in the credit courses designated by the undergraduate and graduate schools.
Lee Jung-hyeok, CEO of SAS Korea, said, “The industry-academic collaboration between SAS Korea and Hoseo University is intended to provide an educational environment where students can experience data analysis and AI technology at a practical level,” adding, “As a leading data and AI company, we are very honored to be contributing to the growth and capacity building of future leaders.” He also said, “SAS will continue to provide educational programs that allow students to develop the analysis and problem-solving capabilities required in industrial settings, and actively support the training of practical data experts.”
Professor Sang-Tae Han of the Big Data AI Department of Hoseo University said, “For the past 30 years, Hoseo University has produced numerous talented individuals with expertise and capabilities in SAS through a curriculum that utilizes SAS products.” He added, “I hope that this collaboration with SAS Korea will not simply provide an educational curriculum, but will become the cornerstone for fostering creative talents who will become the driving force of innovation in the era of data and AI, developing career paths, and contributing to improving the level of big data AI technology in Korea.”
